Legal Separation

What if you are not sure about getting a divorce? Another option to protect yourself and give each spouse some time to sort out their options, or to respectfully “uncouple” may be a legal separation. This is not a divorce, but simply a way for you and your spouse to separate legally so that you decide what you will each be responsible for, determine a plan to co-parent children, divide or use assets, pay for bills and address other situations, such as payment of health insurance, during the time of the legal separation. Sometimes clients wish to have a legal separation instead of a divorce for religious or other reasons. To sort out your options, call our office for an initial consultation.
